Randomness Friday - Pictures edition! *science, creatures, blog party, and more!*

Hello everyone! Welcome to Randomness Friday - Pictures edition! This week I have tons of pics to show y'all, some are of a couple of Science Experiments I had to do for school, some of the interesting results of a wild animal digging into something, and some...well, you'll see. :)

Thanks, Prism, for creating RF!!!!

These first pictures are of my first science experiment in Exploring Creation With Physical Science, by Dr. Jay L. Wile.

In this experiment, I was watching the forming of corrosion, and he explained why the bubbles were coming from the wire. It was because water is made of molecules, one hydrogen atom and two oxygen atoms (H2O). The bubbles were coming out because the power from the battery was separating the molecules, so some of the water molecules were no longer molecules, they separated and became their separate atoms, which means that they had totally different properties. Instead of making a liquid, they were each separate gases. So, they became bubbles and floated to the top. :)

The blue wire is the corroded one. The wire that was attached to the positive end of the wire. The water also turned blueish green.

Now, you tell me. Do you think that the process of corrosion, and atoms forming together into molecules, then breaking apart back into atoms, was an accident? Or do you think that it was designed to work just the way it does, in perfect and complete order? I choose the latter. :)

Ever heard of Sculpey? It is SOOOO much fun! I made these adorable little elephants and bears out of it. :) And I just finished a plaque thing that says "Faith, Hope, and Love". I'll take a picture of it later so y'all can see. :)

The whole family. :)

This next experiment that I did showed how people in Bible times used measurements called "cubits" and "fingers".

A cubit is the length of a man's arm. Now, you should already see a problem with that. lol. Everyone is different! So the "Cubit" will always be different depending on who is measuring.

The finger is basically the same thing. But you measure the length of your last knuckle (closest to your finger nail) to the end of your finger. It's (generally) smaller than an inch. But still, same problem as with the cubit, everyone is different! lol.

In this last experiment, he was showing how concentration works.

"Concentration - The quantity of a substance within a certain volume of space."

The first glass had the most vinegar and the least water. The second had an equal amount of each, and the third has the most water and the least vinegar. The Tums tablet in the first dissolved pretty quickly but not as quickly as it had when there was just vinegar in it, the second didn't dissolve much, and the third hardly at all.

This is the first mystery...what happened the the banana bread??? Seriously, I was upstairs for just an hour or two and when I got down the last half of a loaf was GONE! *tears falling* BANANA BREAD!!! Want the recipe? Here ya go!

It makes one large loaf or two small ones. We have doubled this recipe before and it works perfectly fine. :) It is SO very good!

Ingredients:

2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup butter or oleo
1 cup (two to four) bananas, ripe if possible. But we use frozen ones, thawed obviously. lol.
3/4 - 1 cup nuts (optional)

Directions:

1. Cream the butter and sugar
2. add eggs and mashed bananas to creamed mixture, mix well.
3. sift together flour, soda, and salt
4. stir into banana mixture
5. stir in nuts
6. pour into greased and floured pan(s)
7. bake in 350' oven, large pan 1 hour, small ones 30-45 minutes.

By my Great-Grandma :)

Eldarwen is having a blog party! So hop over to her blog "The Faithful Elven Princess"! And here is the Q&A!

1) How old are you?

Ha! You wish I'd tell you.

2) What name do you go by on blogger?

Buttercup, the princess in Princess Bride

3) When is your birthday?

You seriously think you're gonna get that out of me to?! In your dreams!

4) If you could live anywhere in the world, besides where you live now, where would it be?

hmmm...I don't know...probably either a European country, or a country in South America, or Australia, or an island, or a Central American country, or maybe...jk. :) I really don't know.

5) How did you find out about Blogger?

my Mommy :)

6) Tell us something interesting about yourself:

I love reading Nancy Drew books!

and

I go to an AWANA club, where I am an LIT (Leader in Training)

and

I love taking pictures!

and

I love hanging out with my friends! (who doesn't???)

and

and

and

Yeah, you get the point. :)

7) What was your favorite toy when you were little?

I think it was a Burt doll. You know, one of those creepy creatures on Sesame street! lol.

8) What is your favorite meal? Have you ever cooked/helped cook that meal?

PASTA!!! I love pasta!!! and yes, I have. :)

9) If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

um...I don't know...I think I like myself just the way I am. :P

10) Are you an outside person, or an inside person?

Definitely inside! There is nothing (usually) that is creepy and crawly indoors! lol.

11) Are you a mommy's boy/girl, or a daddy's boy/girl?

I can honestly say, both! :)

12) In one word, describe the feeling you get when you stub your toe, after just being told by your parents that you are grounded for the next month:

HELP!!!

13) Let's say you TP'd your friend's house (for those of you who don't know what TP'd stands for, it means toilet papered. As in, put toilet paper on their trees, cars, house, porch, etc.). If someone asked you why you TP'd your friends house, you would say:

Because I love them!

or

They did it to me first!

14) Have you ever gone swimming in deep, dark, dirty water?

Unfortunately yes, it was a dark, green, creepy...

four foot swimming pool. And I could have screamed! lol

15) Have you ever dreamed about getting ready to leave the house, and forgetting to get your pants on?

Thankfully, no. LOL.

16) Have you ever done something so ridiculous, that you wish you'd never done it? If so, what?

Uh, yeah...but I'm not sure I want to repeat it for fear of someone (Jeremy) teasing me about it for the next four weeks at Sunday night Youth Group. LOL.

But, I'll risk it...Once, in front of all the girls in the Youth Group, I admitted that I hated speaking in public, even if it was just in front of friends (I went though a horrid stage of that last year), and that my heart was thumbing a whole 20 mph. Now, I meant that it was thumping around 2000 mph, but 20 came out. LOL.

17) Imagine that you saw a purse snatching. What would you do?

a. scream and run away

b. move out of the state/country

c. tackle the purse snatcher to the ground.

d. ignore it, start whistling, and turn the other direction.

Definitely C! I would get so freaking mad at that person! LOL. Especially if it was my purse or a friend's (or family member's).

18) How many friends do you have on blogger?

A bunch! And I 'm so glad I know you all!

19) What makes blogging so much fun for you?

hmm...the hardest question so far...I don't really know. Blogging is just...so...fun! LOL. All of it! From the posting, to the making of new friends, to the tags, and the giveaway, and the designing of your blog, everything!

20) You're a turtle, who has bet that you can win a race with a rabbit. How does it turn out?

I would like to say that I would win, but depending on my mood I am sometimes not very patient or dedicated.

Thanks Eldarwen! That was fun! Now y'all go do it!!! And please tell me if you do so I can read it!!! :)

I made a new blog button because the others weren't working...I think that they were taken off of Photobucket while they had the virus, and so they no longer have a working link. So, please put my new button on my blog! I'd really appreciate it! Also, I'd like to put your buttons on too, but I need to find out how to do one of the scrolling things...can anyone tell me how??

Okay, I know, probably the longest post in blogging history, but, it was fun, right? I hope so. :) ttyl!

Eep! I'm so glad that you did the Q & A's post! =D Hahaha, 4 ft of water? Good one! lol =D

What? 20mph? Okay, okay. I won't tease you. *holds in laugh* Nah, I'm just kiddin'. You know, I do stuff like that ALL THE TIME! One time, I was out to eat with some friends and one of my friends, (Moses) was asking me about Night At the Museum 2 (which I had just seen) and he said, "Was Octavius in it?" I said, "Yeah, is he your favorite?" Moses said, "Yeah. I like him. Though, he has a tough name to pronounce." (Moses is from Guatamala, so it's hard for him to pronounce some words) and I said, "Nah, not really. It's just A-U-C-T-A-V-I-U-S." Yep, I spelled it with an 'au', not an 'o'. He busted out laughing and I was so glad no one heard that beside him. LOL =D Blonde moment.... lol :P
