A lesson from Toy Story 1? Oh yeah.

Near the end of the movie, when the toys are in the moving truck and Buzz and Woody are on RC trying to get into the truck, Bo Peep says: "Look! It's Buzz! Woody was telling the truth!" And among other comments by other toys, Rex says, "Oh great. Now I have guilt!" When he found that he had done wrong in accusing his friend of lying, he regretted it - he felt guilty.

This is what happens in our lives. At the moment, we may make false accusations on the basis of presuppositions, but later we may find out that we're wrong.

When you find that you have sinned against God; when you realize that you have done wrong, you feel guilty; you feel guilty because you know that you're wrong and God's right.

This line, even though it was in a slightly cheesy kids movie, is incredibly true when you think about it. "Oh great. Now I have guilt." It reveals that this guilt was very uncomfortable. It implies that guilt wasn't a thing to be treasured, caressed, and kept forever, but one of those things that "the sooner it's gone the better"!

The Holy Spirit (aka: your conscience) tells you "hey, that was wrong" - guilt. You KNOW you did wrong. This is called guilt. You feel guilty because what you did was wrong and you know it.

Guilt can lead to salvation. Once you realize that YOU have sinned against GOD - that YOU were wrong (guilt) - then you may choose to repent and believe in Jesus Christ. Or, you may choose to push that guilt behind you...not a happily ever after ending there.

So, we just got ALL THAT from a little line in a kids movie...wow. I encourage you, my dear reader, look around you. What lessons can you learn from the world around you when you compare physical things to spiritual things? There's so many out there! Just keep an eye out for them! Just be careful when you compare; you can get some pretty wacky doctrine by comparing the wrong things! The safest thing you can do is look at God's word first, then DO NOT go looking for comparable things, but rather, let them come to you. They will. Promise. :)

Last night, I got to go to my second concert! And it ROCKED!!! It was MercyMe with Phil Wickham! (I didn't know who he was 'til last night either, so don't feel bad. He's a new singer as far as I know.) The theme was The Generous Mr. Lovewell, their new CD! And if you haven't gotten that one yet, do it! I rocks, y'all! There are so many great songs on there! Anyways, here's some pics from last night.

I had to zoom in a lot, so I was super happy today when I uploaded them to the computer and a few of them turned out okay! lol. Also, since this was my first big concert...were the screen things new or has that been around for a while? Cause man, that was pretty cool! lol.

The only weird thing was that they didn't sing their title song. Oh, well. They sang my favorite one though! So-Long Self!!! oh yeah!

Well, I tried to upload the two videos that I took, but it's took forever for the first one, and then I tried to play it and make sure it worked, and "an error occurred." oh, joy. Sorry y'all.

Thanks for taking Poppy and I, Mom and Dad! We LOVED it!!! I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

Crocheted Hair Scrunchy Tutorial

Hey Y'all!

In the random post that I wrote a few days ago, I mentioned that I figured out how to crochet around a hair rubber band, and said that I'd post a tutorial if anyone was interested. Someone was. :) So here we go! If it doesn't make sense, please just ask questions! I love to hear from y'all, and would love to help you in any way I can!

Step one: gather your supplies.

What you need:

  1. yarn. I have used fuzzy, hairy, and soft ones. just have fun!
  2. scissors. any will do.
  3. hair rubber bands. I got a pack of 36 good ones at Dollar Tree for a buck. not bad!
  4. a crochet hook. I used F some of the time and G some of the time. But feel free to experiment!

Step two: start your crochet. put your slip knot on the hook, grab your yarn, and get ready! Hold it like this - with a few fingers holding your rubber band, and the yarn over the band, and the hook under. It's easier than it sounds, trust me.

Step three: Grab the yarn with the hook like you are about to do a chain stitch, and pull it under and through.

Step four: do it again and again and again...

If the yarn is over the hook, go under. If the yarn is under the hook, go over. So that you have yarn going all the way around. The movie should help you. No need for any sound, it doesn't have anything worth hearing. lol. I hope it works, it's not working right now...if it doesn't I'll try to re-post it tomorrow.

Step five: crochet around the entire rubber band, and keep pulling all the stitches closer together until you have it the thickness you like it. Just remember to keep your stitches pretty tight, so they don't come undone!

The finished product!

Questions are welcome! So don't be shy! :)

Sherwood Pictures

Hey y'all!

Well, if you haven't seen the poll on the left sidebar then you probably have no idea why I'm posting this. lol. In the poll I asked what your favorite Sherwood Pictures movie is, and the choices were: Flywheel; Facing the Giants; Fireproof; I think it will be their next one, Courageous; I've never heard of any of them (hint hint. post about it!); and, I love them all!

As you have probably already guessed, I have had one vote and it was for the: "I've never heard of any of them (hint hint. post about it!)". lol. So, here we go!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is their main website: http://www.sherwoodpictures.com/
And from there, you can get to any of the movie websites.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

But first, their first movie: Flywheel!

This is a great movie, not as high quality as the others, but still a terrific story! I really encourage everyone to watch it!

It is about a man who is not a Christian, owns a car lot, and cheats all his customers, by telling them too high a price, and telling them they are getting a good deal of a trash of a car, and even, by lying to them, telling them it was never wrecked, when really it was.

Later on, he finds Christ, and puts all his faith and trust in Him; including his lot. He stops cheating people, and actually returns all the money that he overcharged them. Once he handed his lot over to God, the whole problem worked out. His debts, he was able to pay. His customers that he cheated, were returned their money. His relationship with his wife and young boy, were healed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next, Facing the Giants!
This is also an awesome story! The same main character in Flywheel comes back and is the coach for this high school foot ball team.
In this movie, the coach learns how trusting God, and letting Him work, is worth everything. He had been coach of this team at this school for many many years, and they hadn't won much at all, they were the worst team they could think of. But once an older man told the coach: "God will send the rain when he's ready. You have to prepare your fields to receive it." Meaning that, he has to prepare his football team for the new season in a way that honors and glorifies God, then God will reward him. And boy, he did!
Once he had taught the team the importance of playing for the glory of God, and not for themselves, the whole team was dedicated. They ended up winning the state championship, two years (at least) in a row!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thirdly, Fireproof! Their latest movie!

This is a really, really good one! Made me stop breathing in a few parts, it was so tense. :D

This movie is about marriage, how a husband and wife, who don't get along, want to have a divorce. But then the husband, Captain Caleb Holt, who is a firefighter, changes his mind and really does want their marriage not to break. So his dad sends him a book, a diary, a book with a challenge for each day; something to do for your spouse for that day, along with a Bible verse. But at first she rejected all of it.

Later on, Caleb realizes that his whole heart hasn't been in it. And he realizes that God is the only one who can save their marriage. He becomes a Christian wholeheartedly, and does all he can do save his marriage from breaking.

In the end, Kathrine, his wife, sees what he is doing for her. And forgives him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Their movie that they are working on now is called, "Courageous". And I can't wait till that comes out!
Hope you liked it! Now go rent them! :)
Windmills!
It is crazy how many, and how huge these things are! Btw, sorry about the background noise. :P
What did you think? Cool huh? Seeing how great and powerful non-living things like that can be, how great and powerful do you think God is? I like to see comparisons like this because what we gape at, God could simply pick up or crush like a blade of grass! How great and powerful and mighty is our God!
We praise the work of men for something like that, how much more should we praise God for creating all of us, all the animals, the earth, and the entire universe?! It's those small things, like these speck-sized windmills, that makes us think about how great and mighty and powerful is our God!
What do you think now? Our God is worthy to be praised and worshipped.
My favorite quote from the movie, Faith Like Potatoes
"Miracles take difficulty. Big miracles take impossibility." Angus Bucham.
This is a really cool movie! We just got finished watching it. It is based on a true story. And is rated PG, because of one pretty nasty scene, a tractor accident. But, I would still recommend seeing it. :)
